Rrjolli Beach - Into Albania

Rrjolli Beach

The Untamed One Along the Velipoja Coastline

To the southeast of Velipoja, lies a beautiful and largely unknown village that goes by the adorable name of Boks-Rrjoll, along with its pristine beach of crystal-clear waters and iodine-filled sand.

Boks-Rrjoll is one of those places that is only knows among the locals. While they probably would love to keep it that way forever, we cannot resist but tell the world of this gorgeously natural place along the Velipoja coast. Among the village’s numerous beauties, the most striking one is its virgin beach with clean sand and crystal-clear water.

The rugged beach

This beach claims a coastline of approximately 4 km, which extends to a forest punctuated with small sand dunes. The “secret” beach which, until not very long ago, was exclusively used by the village locals, has become a veritable vacation hot spot. As vacationers look increasingly for a break from the daily noise and for quiet, uncrowded places, the Rrjolli beach represents an ideal choice.

Untamed beauty

Despite its growing popularity, Rrjolli continues to be wild. Its gorgeous forest thrives, situated right next to the expansive area of untamed sand, while the shore bears the marks of the clean water, rich in iodine. The locals’ main earnings come from agriculture and livestock which they are trying to combine with tourism, establishing thus the important triangle necessary for the development of ecotourism. For this purpose, namely creating new opportunities of sustainable development, a trail path, the first of its kind in the area, has been marked in Maja e Zezë (The Black Peak).
