Top 10 Events Not to Miss in October

This October’s events add even more color and flavor to the already dazzling month!

The calendar offers plenty of cultural activity, particularly in the first half of the month. You’ll have the chance to attend some of the best classical music events (some of them are even free of charge!), a rare and very old kind of Japanese theatre, original Albanian comedy theater, and many other events centered on film, gastronomy and delicious local products. The month ends with a bang, with one of the most important events in the spheres of innovation and entrepreneurship.

1. The Three Tenors, the Palace of Congresses, Tiranë, October 3rd

October begins on a high note! On the first Thursday of the month, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy this annual concert of classical music. Ten internationally renowned tenors hailing from five continents will join in an extraordinary evening! Here, you will get the chance to enjoy the world’s finest classical pieces. 2. MetroFest 3, Metropol Theatre, October 3rd–27th

Throughout the entire month of October, you’ll have the chance to see the latest Albanian comedies on the stage! This 3rdedition of METROFEST, a festival entirely dedicated to Albanian theatre, will focus exclusively on comedy! 3. KazanFest, Qendra ISO, Gjirokastër, October 4th-6th

Raki, wine, jam and dairy products produced by local farmers! Music by Boiken Lako, pop and rock groups, DJs, the French band Waste and the traditional folk troupe of Këlcyrë. All of the above and many more activities will breathe new life into the city of stone during the first weekend of October. 4. Harvest Fest, Peshkopi, October 4th-5th

A prime opportunity to enjoy the beautiful landscape of Dibra in early fall! On October 4thand 5th, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day, Harvest Fest will bring together locals and tourists in the most important seasonal event of the Dibra region. During these afternoons, you’ll have the chance to taste locally-made fresh products, the region’s delicious traditional food, music and art shows, photography exhibits, touristic tours and the greatest agricultural fair in the country. 5. Puka AgroFest, The Main Square, Pukë, October 5th

Hosted by AgroPuka and its partners, Puka AgroFest aims to further develop the area and encourage local production. Although you may have already enjoyed the delicious Puka Beer in restaurants of the capital, this event will provide an opportunity to enjoy much more of the region’s delicious offerings! Taste different artisanal products from local producers, join in the concerts and entertaining events as well as visits to local businesses and the city’s touristic spots. 6. An evening of classical music “gur, gur bëhet URË”, Mak Albania Hotel, Tiranë, October 6th

Organized by the German Embassy in Tirana and the Symphony Orchestra of the Albanian Radio-Television, this evening of classical music presents the Albanian pianist Marin Gjollma, accompanied by the RTSH orchestra under the direction of German conductor Mateusz Moleda. This activity is part of the “German October 2019” series of events “Gur, gur bëhet URË” (“stone by stone, a bridge is built”). Concert hours: 7 – 8:30 p.m. Admission is free. 7. NOH Theatre, “The Resurrection of Christ” Orthodox Cathedral, Tiranë, October 6th

By far, the most unique event taking place in Albania this month! Founded some 650 years ago, the Japanese NOH theater is part of the UNESCO Intangible World Heritage List and is considered one of the oldest theatrical forms. 8. 8th Edition of Balkan Film Food Festival, Pogradec, October 7th-12th

Founded in 2011, the Balkan Film Food Festival brings together regional filmmaking professionals but also welcomes all film and culinary enthusiasts. Surrounded by the beauty of Pogradec, this is one of the year’s favorite events for those who love art, culture and beauty, and who doesn’t?! 9. “Rock under the olive wreath”, Tirana’s Amphitheatre, October 8th
