10 Events Not to Miss this July

Are you ready for another month full of activities? Below we suggest the very top ones to look out for in July. Enjoy:  

1. Exhibition “Kolë Idromeno in Retrospective”, National Gallery of Arts, Tirana, all month long

One of the greatest Albanian painters, comes through a special exhibition at the National Gallery of Arts. From the painting “Sister Tone” (Motra Tone), otherwise known as “the Albanian Mona Lisa”, painted in 1883, up to the Dantesque tabloid “Two road” (Dy rrugët), the public will have a unique opportunity to see Idromeno’s masterpieces exposed near one another.

2. Movie Nights at “Reja” (Cloud), Tirana, July 1st-8th-15th-22nd-29th July

Every Monday, don’t miss the movie night meeting at “Reja” installation, one of the coolest places in town. The event is organized in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Culture, and the movie catalogue include some of the most well-known Italian classics. Film schedule: 9 PM.

3. Hernan Cattaneo, Project 12, Dada, Tirana, July 3rd

The Argentinian dj Hernan Cattaneo will perform his progressive house music at one of the most popular bar/clubs in Tirana: Dada. Tickets will be sold at Dada on July 3rd, at a price of 500 ALL.

4. International Chamber Music Festival, Durrës, July 4th – 21st

The annual chamber music festival held in Durrës has become a meeting point of music professionals and enthusiasts coming from all over Albania and beyond. The festival is in its 14th edition, and this year the organizers have reserved many surprises for the public. Click here for more.

5. Minguet Quartet, Archaeological Museum, Durrës, July 4th

Although its part of the Chamber Music Festival, we are proposing it as a special event, taking into consideration the popularity of Minguet Quartet, whose protagonists are known for creating an intimate atmosphere. The event starts at 19:30 at the suggestive Archaeological Museum hall. Click here for more information.

6. Berat Multicultural Festival, Berat, 6th Edition, July 18th – 19th – 20th

The city of Berat brings one of the most interesting summer events in Albania, through a festival that has it all: music, tradition, folklore, open-air museum, cooking, cinema! If you want to experience the UNESCO World Heritage City of Berat in the best way possible, save the dates and be part of the celebrations that takes place all over the city, including the iconic Castle of Berat. 7. Discover Bashtova, July 20th, Vilë-Bashtovë, Kavajë

One of the most intriguing castles in Albania is that of Bashtova, constructed in a vast field at the end of the 15th century. Because of the popular beach tourism in this same area, the castle is often overlooked by tourists. It is, however, very much worth seeing and the event ##ZBULOBASHTOVËN (#DISCOVERBASHTOVA) aims to put this great place back on the map! 8. Turtle Fest, July 26th – 27th – 28th, Drymades

Three days and three nights of party and music; 45 artists coming from Albania and around the world; games, crystalline beaches and various activities – Turtle Fest comes in its 8th edition richer than ever! The annual summer festival of house music, techno, electronic and other genres will bring many interesting names from the international music panorama, such as Sébastien Léger, GusGus, Hito and others. 9. Exhibition “Photographers of Southeast Albania”, Marubi Museum, all month long

In the National Museum of Photography “Marubi” you may visit the exhibition “Photographers of Southeast Albania”, where some of the best photographers of the late 19th and 20th century have been selected to offer a rare journey through the Albanian society of the last centuries. Some of the names included at the exhibit are Kristo Sulidhi, Perikli Kaçauni, Petro Dhimitri, Kristaq Sotiri etc.

10. Rafting in Vjosa, Përmet, all month long

For the entire month you’ll have the chance to join groups who will be rafting along the length of the Vjosa River. Do not miss the chance to explore this gorgeous area, also referred to as the Blue Heart of Europe! Organized by Albania Rafting Group, the well-planned event is sure to be a blast.
