Berat: One of the Most Spiritual Places in the World

Listed among some of the world’s most famous spiritual destinations, is a small city in Albania that offers the visitor an otherworldly experience among rich history, fascinating architecture and a stunning landscape.

2020 has barely begun and Albania has already made many of the international media’s travel lists. Behind the Illusion’s “10 spiritual places on Earth with the strongest energy field,” specifically emphasizes the magic of the historic city of Berat, which sits among some of the world’s most amazing destinations. Some of them are well-known, like Machu Picchu, Easter Island, Stonehenge and Mount Kailash. Some others, like Rila, Socotra, or Berat, less so. But, what the list aims to communicate is that in all of these places one feels “a connection with the divine.”

Berat is indeed one of the most unique destinations of Albania. Listed as one of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites, the city has existed since the 4th century B.C., when the grand Castle of Berat was erected. Unlike many other castles in the Balkan region, this one is amazingly still inhabited. Known as the “City of 1000 Windows,” Berat is an architecture enthusiast’s paradise, as well. Not to mention the city’s spectacular surrounding landscape! Berat is flanked by Tomorr and Shpirag, two of the most mythical mountains in Albania. The legendary Osum River flows beautifully through the entire city.

With its rich culture, history, nature and tradition, Berat is worth experiencing up close. This is what Behind the Illusion had to say about it:

“Berat is a pride of Albanian architecture. The old town is under the protection of UNESCO. Berat represents a wonderful blend of eastern and western culture, traditions and customs. The city is the treasury of Albanian history and the evidence of harmony between faith and culture. In Berat, people have a very powerful, spiritual energy of healing.

Today, behind the city walls there are still people who do not believe in illness, making this place unique and authentic.” To check out the entire list of the world’s most spiritual places, please click here
