Creating this list of the best waterfalls in Albania was not an easy thing to do! From north to south, there is an abundance of waterfalls to visit, all with their own unique stunning beauty. But here are six of our favourites to choose from.

1. Sotira Waterfall

Waters flowing from  Mount Tomorr into rugged limestone cliffs create the Sotira Waterfall, a natural spectacle that attracts an increasing number of tourists year after year. Its waters fall from various heights of 20-100 meters, cascading to the cliffs below at varying speeds and creating an unforgettable (and quite hypnotic) scene! For more click here.

2. Theth Waterfall

The Waterfall of Grunas (or Theth) is an impressive sight with a 30m high cascade of plunging water. The rugged and narrow canyon of Grunas, which lays in close proximity, adds to the magical atmosphere, with crystalline waters running through it for more than a kilometre.

3. Shëngjergji Waterfall

The water is sourced from the Gropa (hole or chasm, in English) Mountain and in fact in plunges from as high as 30 metres. The Shëngjergji Waterfall is surrounded by an oasis of colourful & lush vegetation, accompanied by stratified rocks that glisten transcendently in the sunlight. It goes without saying, the view is utterly magical! The view is enhanced by the intake of fresh air, and the silence that encircles the area, immersing you in an otherworldly experience that you will surely not want to leave. For more click here.

4. Bogova Waterfall

At a height of 20 meters, the waterfall stands above a pool of crystal-clear waters that is 12 meters in depth. The scenery immerses you in a tropical paradise that seems to be entirely untouched. The sheer clarity of the water, the calming sounds of the waterfall, and the green landscape that surround this area, give you an idea of how the world must have been in its infancy. 5. The Waterfalls at the Osumi Canyons

The very same river that crosses the entire city of Berat, has created the wonderful canyons of Osumi in Skrapar, easily accessible from Berat. The canyons are well-known not only because they are the largest in the country, but also for its wonderful flora and the many outdoor activities that are carried out there. Hiking here warrants magnificent vistas of the many high slopes of vegetation which beautifully separate from the river, or the opportunity to admire the caves as well as the eight spectacular waterfalls.

6. Blue Eye of Theth

The Black River descending from the village of Kaprre, creates yet another majestic pool: The Blue Eye of Theth. With a rich-blue hue and surrounded by luscious greenery, it’s a magical sight to behold. A calm stream descends from the mountains above, an abandoned tower adds a finishing touch to this gorgeous and remarkable location. Do not fear, there are plenty of rest spots along your journey where you can relax and recuperate some energy.
